Cheryl Tuttle Student Advocacy Services

I specialize in preschool through middle school children and programs relating to all aspects of special education including:

Autism
• PDD
• ADHD
• Reading Disorders
• Language Disabilities
• Behavior Problems
• Executive Function Disorder

I will assist parents with the entire special education process, including attending team meetings and mediation if necessary. I am available for consultation on evaluations, reports, procedures, programs, and any other issues related to special education.

For more than 30 years I have worked in the field of special education as an administrator/education and educational writer, with broad experience at the preschool through college levels. I have served as special education chairperson, an advocate for children of all ages in their struggle to learn, and a workshop presenter for staff training or parent education. I have been writing books and articles for children and their families, with and without learning disabilities, for over ten years. I am fully knowledgeable about Federal and state laws and regulations regarding IEPs and 504.

Working Philosophy

The purpose of any interaction between a family and a school is to ensure the best possible educational program for the child. The outcome should be a win for the child, the parents and the school system.

The special education process can be intimidating, complicated, confusing, and overwhelming. A professional advocate can help parents through this process and empower them to do everything possible to make their child's school experience an enjoyable and productive one.

Active and informed parents maximize the opportunities for their child in a positive way.
